My parents used to take me to the pet department and tell me it was a zoo.
Penguins!
Yes, I got to go to the Sacramento Zoo today, and the penguins are there. For just another week or so, but they were cute. Lots of little kids, too. Actually, my friend Heim convinced one little boy that there was a crocodile in the flamingo pond.
The poor hyena was terrified of those kids, too. I don’t think he could back up any faster to get inside and away from the throng of first graders. Poor guy. But we did finally see him, after the kids left and he calmed down enough to come back out. I can’t say I wouldn’t have hidden, too.
But if you’re around Sacramento, try and see the cute lil’ penguins in the next two weeks. And the giraffes. And the red pandas.
It was a fun day. And even though the smoke is horrible for breathing, it kept it from being too hot. So I guess it was sort of nice in a bad way.
