We’ll see who’s powerless now!
Spoilers ahead if you haven’t seen Wall-E yet! Read at your own risk!
Today, Becky and I saw Wall-E! Oh, it’s adorable! I could seriously watch it again.
Like, for a movie with what really amounts to not much dialogue, it’s very expressive and easy to understand. The robots were all so adorable, too! And the repair ward just…it was a robot crazy house. But it was way cute how Wall-E thought Eve was being hurt, so he tried to save her, but she was really just being fixed and they got in all that trouble…
…and it was all over that one little plant.
Yeah. Seems to me the whole movie is like, an ad for green living at its finest. Not saying living green is a bad thing, but like, the movie talks about how there was so much trash that we left Earth for some 700 years and left robots to clean up—which didn’t seem to work so well; Wall-E was the only one left working. He had to piece the others to keep working.
And then there were all the people, all sitting in their chairs, never getting out of them, never looking away from their little screens and drinking pizzas and quad burgers. Yuck. But it’s definitely a way to get me up and out of the house once in a while. I don’t want to be…quite that large.
The end credits were adorable, too. It showed how Earth grew again, and it went through classic art styles, from Egyptian and Greek in style, through pointillism and beyond. Very interesting way to do it.
Also, I seriously almost cried over Wall-E at the end. Eve finally got that Wall-E just wanted to hold her hand (yay, Hello Dolly references!), after brushing him off so many times, and then he wasn’t himself anymore, and if he hadn’t come back, I would really have bawled in the theatre.
Eve was totally like the popular girl at school, though. And Wall-E was the geek that literally didn’t register on her radar. It was adorable.
Go see it. You’ll fall in love with the itty bitty robot.
And the cockroach. And the cockroach’s Twinkie bed. :)
